A George II Period Mahogany single drop leaf side table, the rectangular top opening to reveal a large well, the drop leaf supported by both swing out legs on a double gate action, the cross grain frieze raised on turned legs with pad feet.

Attribution: Although tables of this sort, occasional tables, would have been made by a number of cabinetmakers throughout the United Kingdom, there are several strictly comparable examples by Alexander Peter of Edinburgh made for Dumfries House. This single drop leaf table may well be a typically Scottish model being called “bedroom table” in the bills from Peter to Lord Dumfries.
